Angels' Share is one of KILIAN PARIS' defining releases and a major reference point for the modern boozy gourmand style. Launched in 2020 and composed by Benoist Lapouza, it draws directly from founder Kilian Hennessy's family connection to cognac, translating the atmosphere of aged spirits and oak barrels into a warm, dessert-like fragrance. Cognac is immediately recognizable in the opening, giving the composition a rich alcoholic warmth without smelling like a literal glass of liquor. Cinnamon, oak, and tonka bean quickly build around it, creating the baked-spice character that often leads wearers to describe Angels' Share as reminiscent of apple pie, even though apple is not an official note. As it develops, praline and vanilla increase the sweetness while sandalwood rounds out the drydown. Its strengths are balance and character. Angels' Share is unquestionably sweet, but the dry oak and boozy cognac keep it from becoming a simple vanilla gourmand. The composition also performs very well, with strong longevity and a noticeable scent trail particularly during the first several hours. There are legitimate drawbacks. The combination of cinnamon, praline, and vanilla can become overly sweet in warm weather, and its popularity has produced a large number of similar fragrances that have made the DNA feel less unusual than it did at launch. Some wearers also perceive a pronounced synthetic sweetness in the drydown. At full retail, value is the weakest part of the package. The scent and presentation are highly rated, but $285 for 50 ml places Angels' Share firmly in premium niche territory.
