Narcotic Delight joined Initio Parfums Privés’ Carnal Blends collection in 2024, presenting a darker gourmand direction centered on cherry, cognac, vanilla, pepper, and tobacco. The fragrance is closely related to the sensual character associated with Initio’s catalog, but its combination of fruit and liquor gives it a noticeably different personality from the brand’s better-known Side Effect. The opening is dense and immediately sweet, with juicy cherry surrounded by pink and black pepper. Cognac reinforces the boozy impression, while Hedione adds some lift before the composition settles into warmer vanilla and tobacco. The drydown is smoother and less aggressively fruity, with the cherry becoming integrated into a sweet, lightly smoky vanilla-tobacco base. Community response is generally positive, though not uniformly so. Some wearers find the opening overly syrupy, medicinal, or reminiscent of cherry candy before the tobacco and vanilla become more apparent. This makes Narcotic Delight less universally approachable than its high ratings might suggest. Its profile also favors cool weather and evening wear; heavy application can become cloying in warmer conditions. Performance is strong without being unusually extreme for the Initio line. Parfumo’s large user sample currently places longevity at 8.0/10 and sillage at 7.6/10. Projection is strongest during the opening hours before becoming more controlled. The main weakness is value. At full U.S. retail, Narcotic Delight sits firmly in luxury niche pricing, and community value ratings are substantially lower than its scent and performance scores. Buyers primarily interested in cherry-vanilla fragrances have considerably less expensive alternatives, though the cognac, tobacco, and pepper combination gives Narcotic Delight a recognizable identity of its own.
