Historic Sahara takes the Althaïr structure and quietly changes the proportions. Cinnamon and cardamom are more obvious from the opening, while the vanilla arrives with a warm, almost toasted sweetness. It feels composed rather than aggressively cloned, which is probably why the first spray comes across smoother than several cheaper Althaïr alternatives.
The main departure is in the heart and base. Althaïr has a clearer orange-blossom glow and a polished woody vanilla texture. Historic Sahara replaces some of that brightness with almond, praline and sugar, giving the drydown a nuttier, slightly denser character. The difference is easy to notice side by side, but much less obvious in the air.
Community comparisons place it among the better Althaïr alternatives, often alongside Liquid Brun. Liquid Brun is arguably the more literal copy; Historic Sahara feels better balanced to some noses, with less abrasive sweetness and a smoother opening. Performance is generally strong, though reports vary by skin and bottle. It is not a perfect photocopy, and that is probably its strongest quality.
