Liquid Brun has the Althaïr blueprint down with surprising precision. Cinnamon and cardamom give the opening some bite, but orange blossom quickly softens the edges before Bourbon vanilla takes control. The resemblance is obvious early, although Liquid Brun feels sweeter and a little more forceful.
Althaïr is better tailored. Its vanilla has more depth, the spices sit more naturally around it, and the drydown feels creamy without becoming dense. Liquid Brun pushes praline, ambroxan and sweetness harder, which can make the first part of the wear seem synthetic when smelled up close.
Once both fragrances settle, the difference becomes considerably smaller. Side-by-side owners repeatedly describe them as difficult to separate in the air, while Liquid Brun often projects with even more confidence. It lacks some of the original's polish, but as a practical substitute for Althaïr, very few clones make a stronger argument.
