Collateral Damage gets remarkably close to Side Effect without feeling like a pale sketch of it. Rum and cinnamon come forward immediately, followed by a thick ribbon of vanilla and tobacco. The recognizable boozy warmth is all there, although Dua packs the materials more tightly together and gives them less air.
Side Effect has a smoother sense of space around the sweetness. Collateral Damage feels denser, slightly fruitier and more synthetic when smelled directly from skin, particularly during the opening. Once it warms up, those differences become much less obvious.
Performance is almost excessive. Community comparisons repeatedly describe it as at least as persistent as the Initio, sometimes stronger, and several side-by-side wearers struggle to separate the two in the drydown. At full retail it is not the cheapest clone per milliliter, but the accuracy is exceptional. This is one of the rare Side Effect alternatives where the original mainly wins on finesse rather than the basic smell.
